Hans Ausserwinkler

Hans Ausserwinkler (born February 2, 1919 in Stockenboi , Carinthia ; † August 9, 1989 in Klagenfurt , Carinthia) was an SPÖ politician and mayor of the state capital Klagenfurt.

Life

Hans Ausserwinkler was the son of a farmer and attended agricultural school. In World War II he was a paratrooper officer, after the war he joined the Socialist Party. In 1946 he became district and state food inspector, from 1949 head of the agriculture and forestry inspection, and chairman of the central staff representation of the state government.

In 1952 he became a local councilor in Klagenfurt, in 1953 a city councilor for construction and in 1957 he was elected mayor of the city. He held the office until 1973, from 1970 he was also a member of the state parliament. During his term of office, the first major road constructions after the war, the first zoning plan and an urban planning concept with a focus on modern urban development (industrial zone, old town renovation, airport, Carinthian or wood fair, etc.) In 1970 the University of Education was founded and Klagenfurt became a university town. He promoted the school system, established city partnerships with Dessau , Gladsaxe , Gorizia / Görz, Nova Gorica and Venlo as an intensive advocate of the European idea and made Klagenfurt a garden city with the opening of the Europapark Klagenfurt .

Hans Ausserwinkler was married to Rosmarie Fecher. Their son Michael Ausserwinkler (born January 15, 1957) became a doctor and later Austrian health minister and SPÖ regional party chairman of Carinthia. Their daughter Christiane Ausserwinkler (born September 16, 1948) became a doctor. Hans Ausserwinkler has 3 grandchildren: Michaela Ausserwinkler, Mathias Ausserwinkler and Philipp Lienhart.

Hans Ausserwinkler died on August 9, 1989 in Klagenfurt and was buried in the central cemetery Annabichl in field 1, row east, no.
