Hans Beringer

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hans Beringer (also Hans Böringer) (baptized 1545 in Dinkelsbühl ; † early 1590 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) was a German stonemason and master craftsman .

Life

Hans Beringer was a son of the Dinkelsbühler stonemason Wolf Beringer the Elder († 1563). His earliest verifiable work is the rose above the west portal of the chapel church in Rottweil from 1575. In 1575 he became foreman at the Freiburg Minster . For this he made the tracery gallery on the second floor of the tower, in 1578 the outer facade of the Holy Sepulcher Chapel and from 1579 the rood screen . On this he attached his picture and his maker's mark.

In 1583 he applied unsuccessfully for the position of foreman at Strasbourg Cathedral .
