Hans Bühler (show jumper)

Hans Ulrich Eduard Bühler (born April 12, 1893 in Winterthur ; † June 1, 1967 Berg am Irchel ; resident in Winterthur) was a Swiss show jumper , sculptor , painter , graphic artist and manufacturer .

As a passionate horse lover and hunter, Bühler took part in the Olympic Games in individual and team competitions in 1924 . While he came 20th in the individual ranking with the horse Mikosch and 14th in dressage, he won the silver medal at the Nations' Prize with Sailor Boy and together with Alphonse Gemuseus ( Lucette ) and Werner Stuber ( Girandole ) .

As an artist, Bühler enjoyed creating horse sculptures and a famous collection of pictures. In 1922 he bought Berg am Irchel Castle , which shortly before had temporarily served as Rainer Maria Rilke's residence.

Bühler was married to Marguerite, née Volkart (1897–1987). They had four children together. Her oldest daughter was Veronika von Stockar (1919–2010) who founded the bird of prey station Berg am Irchel on her property in 1956 .

Marguerite Bühler was the youngest daughter of Georg Gottfried Volkart -Ammann (1850–1928) and Molly († 1901), née Ammann. Her older sisters were Nanny Wunderly (1878–1962) and Elisabeth Aman .
