Hans Becker (born July 11, 1900 in Budapest , † August 4, 1943 in Venezuela ) was a German geologist and paleontologist .
Life
Becker was born as the son of the Romance studies professor Philipp August Becker . He studied at the Thomasschule until 1918 and then studied history , geography and Romance studies in Leipzig.
In 1927 he became a private lecturer in geology and paleontology at the University of Leipzig . After the National Socialists came to power, the Venia Legendi was withdrawn from him. He emigrated to China and worked as a professor at Nanjing University . Becker also worked as a geologist in the petroleum business in Venezuela and fell ill with malaria in 1943 .
