The Hans Brattström is a Norwegian research vessel from the University of Bergen .
history
The ship was built in 1992 at the Båtutrustning boatyard in Bømlo . It is operated by the Havforskningsinstituttet, which also uses it for research trips for a large part of the year. The ship is mainly used off the west coast of Norway and in the fjords .
The ship is named after the biologist and professor at the University of Bergen, Hans Brattström.
Technical data and equipment
The ship is powered by two diesel engines with a combined output of 740 kW . The motors act on a propeller via a gearbox . The ship is equipped with a bow thruster .
The masts of the ship are foldable. It can also be used on rivers and cross under fixed bridges there.
Two laboratories are available on board. The ship is equipped with echo sounders and sonar , among other things . It is equipped for the use of an ROV .
Two single and two double cabins are available for the crew and scientists. On day trips, there are sometimes up to 20 people on board.
