Hans Brendicke

Hans Heinrich Julius Brendicke (born November 19, 1850 in Berlin ; † August 6, 1925 there ) was a Berlin gymnastics teacher, editor and non-fiction author.

Life

Brendicke attended the Kölln high school and then went to the University of Berlin , where he received his doctorate in 1876. In 1879 he passed the state examination and then taught as a gymnastics teacher at the Royal Realgymnasium in Berlin. In 1890 he founded the Deutsche Briefmarken-Zeitung , and from around 1893 Brendicke was chief secretary of the Society for the History of Berlin . In 1891 he published the book " Singing ways to the songbook for German gymnasts " and he was co-editor of the " Year books of German gymnastics ".

Brendicke's grave is in the Luisenstädtischer Friedhof am Südstern in Berlin-Kreuzberg (field 11). It has been an honorary grave for the State of Berlin since 1970 . The tombstone consists of a stele bearing a bronze bust of Brendicke.
