Hans Fenz
Hans Fenz (born February 2, 1879 in Böhmisch-Rudoletz ; † after 1927; also Johann Fenz ) was an Austrian architect .
Life
Hans Fenz's parents were Johanna Fenz, née Lamprecht, and the tarpaulin maker and master tailor Johann Fenz. As a teenager, he must have suffered from health problems. Due to general weakness, he did not have to do military service.
Fenz initially worked as an unskilled worker in the construction industry. Although there is no evidence of any other training than attending primary school , he performed successfully as an architect in Vienna from the beginning of the 20th century. The first building designed by Hans Fenz was a rental house in Vienna- Währing in 1904. In the same year he attempted suicide. The tall, slim, and blond man was left with a scar over his left eye. In January 1911 and again in April 1912 he suddenly disappeared and was reported as missing by his family, who feared another suicide attempt. Fenz was married. The marriage ended in divorce.
Until the First World War , Hans Fenz planned further rental houses in Vienna. Overall, his work is considered aesthetically pleasing and solid. In contrast to what was customary at the time, Fenz did not belong to any architects' association. In 1913 he appeared as a member of an honorary board of directors that tried to expand the Rosary Church in Vienna- Hetzendorf . He had designed several houses in Hetzendorf himself. In 1917 he was in private care. After the First World War, Fenz appeared as managing director of the German-Austrian construction company .
Fenz, who frequently changed his place of residence, left Vienna in 1927. He is buried in the Biezanow Cemetery in Krakow .
