Hans Figlmüller
Hans Peter Figlmüller (born May 16, 1943 in Vienna ) is an Austrian restaurateur and entrepreneur . He achieved international fame with the “Figlmüller Schnitzel”. Today, the restaurant is an essential factor in the city's tourism and represents culinary Vienna beyond the borders of Austria.
Life
After graduating from high school, Figlmüller completed an apprenticeship as a waiter and attended courses in cellar management in Klosterneuburg . In the early 1960s he took over his father's business at Wollzeile 5, which was founded in 1905 in the 2nd district of Vienna on Hollandstrasse. In 1972 he founded a wine tavern at Grinzinger Strasse 55, which his sons converted into a home-style inn in 2004. Other locations of the Figlmüller dynasty have been located at Bäckerstraße 6 in the city center and at Vienna Airport since 2001 .
Figlmüller was awarded the professional title of Kommerzialrat and has also been a member of the Committee of the Gastronomy Section of the Vienna Chamber of Commerce since 1977 and received the Golden Decoration of Honor for Services to the City of Vienna in 2007 as one of the city's leading culinary ambassadors .
Hans Figlmüller is married and has two sons who run the restaurants.
Figlmüller schnitzel
Hans Figlmüller achieved international fame with the “Figlmüller Schnitzel” and classic Viennese cuisine . The “Figlmüller Schnitzel” is a particularly thin Wiener-style schnitzel that weighs at least 250 grams and is not prepared in the deep fryer , but with vegetable oil in the pan. It is a baked pork schnitzel . The cult status of the schnitzel - it is touted as the most famous schnitzel in Vienna - led to Wiener-Figlmüller weeks in other metropolises as well. In addition, the restaurants in Wollzeile and Döbling also offer real Wiener Schnitzel as an original Wiener Schnitzel from veal with potato salad .
