Hans Fischer (born December 15, 1892 in Schaffhausen , † May 21, 1976 in Zollikon , reformed , resident in Schaffhausen) was a Swiss pharmacologist and medical historian .

Life

Hans Fischer was born on December 15, 1892 in Schaffhausen as the son of the entrepreneur Georg Fischer . Hans Fischer began studying medicine at the universities of Zurich and Munich , which he completed in Zurich in 1925 with the academic degree of Dr. med. completed.

As a result, Hans Fischer was employed as an assistant to Heinrich Zangger and Max Cloëtta . In 1928, Hans Fischer accepted an appointment at the University of Zurich, where he initially taught as a private lecturer , from 1935 as an associate professor as successor to Max Cloetta, and finally from 1947 until his retirement in 1963 as a full professor of pharmacology. Fischer also served there as rector between 1956 and 1958. In addition, he worked as a member of federal commissions and the World Health Organization .

Hans Fischer was married to Vera, the daughter of Hans Jakob Otto Vogel. He died on May 21, 1976, five months after he was 83 years old in Zollikon.

Act

In his research, Hans Fischer dealt primarily with cardiac-active glycosides , ultraviolet analysis, cellular pharmacology as well as carrier substances of the nervous system . Fischer also emerged as a promoter of medical history in Switzerland. He also wrote articles about Johann Jakob Wepfer , Conrad Gessner and Johann Jakob Scheuchzer .
