from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hans Fleming , also Hans Fleminck (* around 1545 in Namur , † 1623 in Kalmar ) was a Flemish builder, stonemason and sculptor.

Life

The Flemish stonemason learned in Utrecht and came to Mecklenburg in 1563 together with the sculptor Philipp Brandin . From 1568 he made the stone pulpit of Lübeck Cathedral , the reliefs of which are also attributed to Philipp Brandin, but were probably made by the Flemish Willem van den Broeck . 1570–72 he and Claus Midow created the renaissance porch at Lübeck town hall on the market side . Fleming then worked as a builder and sculptor in Sweden from 1572, with an interruption in Mecklenburg around 1596, where he also died.
