Hans Fredy

Hans Fredy (born November 20, 1861 in Breslau , † after 1932) was a German actor and singer.

Live and act

Fredy studied at the Breslau Conservatory for two years before he was allowed to appear for the first time in 1882 at the Leipzig City Theater "through the mediation of his patron Doctor Förster". After this stage debut he was busy with success and without interruptions. He played 1882 in Bremen, 1883 in Kolberg, 1884 in Bromberg, 1885 in Liegnitz, 1886 at the Court Theater in Neustrelitz, 1887 in Königsberg i.Pr., 1888 in Halle and 1889 at the Residenztheater in Dresden, before finally coming to Berlin in 1890. Here he appeared at the Wallner Theater in Friedrichstadt and at the Victoria Theater on Münzstrasse.

Fredy took on roles in operettas, musical antics and comedies in the field of 'youth and character comedians' and as an operetta tenor.

He made guest appearances abroad. He is known to have performed in Riga between 1891 and 1896 . After a short local interlude in Darmstadt in 1897, he performed in Zurich in 1898 . In 1899 he was committed to Paris and Saint Petersburg , Russia , where he was able to achieve great success; from 1900 he was again listed as a 'comedian and director' in Berlin, where he worked in the following years at the Theater des Westens and the Apollo Theater as well as at “Wolzog's Bunter Bühne”, the legendary “Überbrettl” by Ernst von Wolhaben , occurred.

In 1907 he celebrated his 25th stage anniversary. He was awarded the Golden Medal of Merit for Art and Science by the Royal Italian circolo frentano . In 1910 he was on the stage of the Intimate Theater in Frankfurt am Main, where he also directed, in 1912 he played at the theater of the Herrfeld brothers in Berlin on Alexanderplatz.

After the First World War , he continued to tour between 1918 and 1930. He appeared in all the major cities of the empire: in Hamburg, Cologne, Mannheim, Karlsruhe and in Strasbourg, France, again since 1920 . In 1930, in addition to an actor, he also became the office manager at the Intimate Theater in Nuremberg.

After 1932 it is no longer registered in the German Stage Yearbooks.

Fredy discussed gramophone records at Gramophone / Zonophone and Lindström's Odeon brand early on . He sang and recited his own texts and read those from other authors, e. B. by Johann Nepomuk Nestroy or Heinrich Seidel .

Hans Fredy is not related to the stage and silent film actress Frydel Fredy , whose real name was Fri (e) da Döring.
