Johann "Hans" Göttler (born May 3, 1953 in Simbach am Inn , Lower Bavaria ) is a Bavarian German teacher, German didactic and writer .

After Hans Göttler had completed his studies in German , political science and history in 1978 and his legal clerkship in 1980, he worked as a high school teacher for the subjects of German , social studies and history in Weilheim and Pocking . During this time he was with his work on the Swiss poet Jeremias Gotthelf to Dr. phil. PhD. In 1981 he married Maria Osterholzer. Two years later he was transferred to the Philosophical Faculty of the University of Passau , where he has been teaching German language and literature didactics in the German Studies department, since 1998 as Academic Director .

In the 1990s, Göttler shifted more and more to researching and editing old Bavarian literature and also emerged as a writer himself. In addition, he regularly organizes public readings in various places (e.g. taverns, schools, retirement homes, churches, monasteries), especially on old Bavarian literature, in order to “bring together” books and texts as well as their readers and authors.
