Hans Georg Faust

Hans Georg Julius Faust (born March 14, 1948 in Hofheim am Taunus ) is a German politician ( CDU ). From 2005 to 2009 he was Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Health of the German Bundestag.

Life and work

After graduating from high school in 1966, Faust studied medicine at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main , which he completed in 1973 with the state examination . In 1974 he received his license to practice medicine and in 1976 he received his doctorate as Dr. med. at the University of Frankfurt with the thesis "On the question of the therapy of brain aneurysms " . Faust did his military service as a medical officer and was later promoted to senior medical officer in the reserve . Faust then worked at the St. Vincenz Hospital in Limburg an der Lahn , where he completed his training as a specialist in anesthesiology , which he completed in 1980. He then moved to the department for anesthesia and intensive care medicine in the district hospital "Fritz-König-Stift" in Bad Harzburg as a senior doctor . From 1984 to 1998 he was also the medical director of the hospital.

After leaving the Bundestag, Faust worked as a health care advisor. From 2011 to 2013 he was employed as a political coordinator at the AOK-Bundesverband GbR.

Faust has been honorary mayor of the city of Linz am Rhein since 2014 .

Hans Georg Faust is married and has one son.

Political party

Faust joined the CDU in 1982 and was chairman of the CDU district association in Goslar from 1991 to 2004 . He was a member of the CDU state executive in Lower Saxony and the medium-sized association of the CDU (MIT).

From 1986 to 1999 Faust was councilor of the city of Bad Harzburg and from 2001 to 2003 a member of the district council of the Goslar district .

From 1998 to 2009 he was a member of the German Bundestag and between 2005 and 2009 deputy chairman of the Committee on Health. Furthermore, Faust was a deputy member of the tourism committee.

Hans Georg Faust has always entered the Bundestag via the Lower Saxony state list. In 2009, his place on the list was no longer sufficient to enter the Bundestag. Faust left him.
