Hans Griepentrog (singer)

Hans Griepentrog (* 1968 in Münster ) is a German musician and opera singer (bass).

Life

Griepentrog is the son of the painter Hans Griepentrog .

The bassist began his training at the Westphalian School for Music in Münster and continued his studies at the Freiburg , Cologne ( Hans Sotin ) and Mannheim ( Rudolf Piernay ) music academies.

At the age of 28 he made his debut at the Regensburg Theater as Sarastro in Mozart's Magic Flute . Afterwards he worked during his studies at the Musikhochschule Mannheim as part of guest contracts a. a. at the Städtebundtheater Hof and at the Anhaltisches Theater Dessau . From 2007 to 2010 he sang at the Deutsche Oper Berlin , where he a. a. as speaker in the Magic Flute, Joe in Weill's Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny , King in Verdi's Aida and Titurel in Wagner's Parsifal . In 2002, Hans Griepentrog made his debut at the Bayreuth Festival as Master Schwarz in Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg and Edler in Lohengrin .

From 2000 to 2005 he was a member of the ensemble at Theater Bielefeld , where he a. a. sang the role of Rocco in Beethoven's Fidelio , Alfonso in Mozart's Così fan tutte , Raimondo in Donizetti's Lucia di Lammermoor and Daland in Wagner's The Flying Dutchman . After 2005, Griepentrog worked as a freelance singer a. a. at the Kiel Theater , the Darmstadt State Theater and the Grand Théâtre de Genève .

Griepentrog teaches in Berlin at the city's Hans-Werner-Henze-Musikschule and as a private teacher singing.

In 2011, Griepentrog founded the concert series “Berliner Orgelpower”, in which organists play a concert in different churches in Berlin every year. Berliner Orgelpower has also been a music label since 2017.
