Hans Helmut Speidel

Hans Helmut Speidel (born August 30, 1938 in Mannheim ) is a retired German Brigadier General . D.

Hans Helmut Speidel was born in Mannheim in 1938 as the son of the Wehrmacht and later Bundeswehr General Hans Speidel . After graduating from high school in 1957, he joined the armed forces . He was trained as an officer and was u. a. Used in the 10th Panzer Division , in the 292 Panzer Grenadier Battalion and in the 29th Panzer Brigade . He was the commander of the Jäger Battalion 112 in Regen, head of staff department in III. Corps in Koblenz, group leader in the Army Office in Cologne, division manager in the planning staff of the Federal Minister of Defense in Bonn, Army and Defense Attaché at the German embassies in Washington DC ,London and Paris and Head of the Personnel and Internal Command Department in the Bundeswehr Command East in Strausberg. From 1969 to 1971 he took part in the 12th General Staff course (H) at the command and control academy of the Bundeswehr in Hamburg. From 1995 to 1998 he was head of the Defense District Command 100 / Location Command Berlin . He was then retired.

From 2001 to 2013 he was head of the Berlin regional district of the Clausewitz Society . In 1998 he became president of the Berlin regional association of the German Life Saving Society ; later he became honorary president.

Speidel is married and has four children.
