Decoration of honor of the technical relief organization
The badge of honor of the technical relief organization is a badge of honor according to the law on titles, medals and decorations , which was initially donated in two stages in 1975 and expanded by a third in 1990. It is awarded by the President of the THW (to THW members) and by the Interior Minister (to outsiders) in the stages of bronze, silver and gold. Local representatives , state spokespersons, federal spokespersons, state representatives and the President of the THW are entitled to make suggestions . The honorary badge in all three levels may only be awarded to THW members and outsiders in limited numbers. The actual award rates are well below the maximum values.
The THW badge of honor may be worn in all three awarded levels at the same time - and in a row with other state or state-recognized medals and decorations - on the strap buckle on the service suit.

Further awards from the Federal Agency for Technical Relief

These awards are not medals or decorations according to the Ordensgesetz and are carried in their execution as a ribbon buckle on the service suit in a separate row below the awards anchored in this law.
Circular decree 39 of 2005 regulates the execution of the THW awards as strap buckle parts.
THW helper sign
The THW helper's mark is awarded in the stages gold and gold with a wreath. For the award of the helper's mark in gold, at least five years of service are required since commitment with continuous, above-average performance and activities in the service of the THW, for the level in gold with a wreath three to five years after the award of the first level.
If the original crosses are worn on the breast pocket, the helper's symbol is attached underneath.
The THW helper mark (gold and gold with wreath) may only be worn at the highest level awarded.
THW helper sign in gold
The golden helper needle, today the helper's badge in gold, was created on August 7, 1952 as the first, internal, decoration of the THW.
The THW helper sign in gold has the shape of a badge and shows a THW emblem in gold on a blue background with a fine gold border. The design as a strap buckle for the service suit shows the same badge, placed on a dark blue background with two gold bars on both sides of the strap buckle.
THW helper sign in gold with a wreath
The THW helper's mark in gold with a wreath is also awarded as a badge. Here the THW lettering is framed with a wreath of leaves and a fine golden border. As a ribbon buckle, this badge rests on a dark blue background, framed by two narrow side bars and one wide dark green bar in the middle.
The award of the THW helper symbol in gold with a wreath generally requires the awarding of the helper symbol in gold.
Service badge
Members of the THW are awarded service badges for 10, 20, 25, 30, 40, 50 and 60 years of work in the THW for many years of service. Periods of service as a young helper are taken into account. The period of service badge in the form of a ribbon buckle shows a ring of teeth with the number of years framed on a dark blue background with a white central bar in:
- Bronze: 10 years
- Silver: 20, 25, 30 years
- Gold: 40, 50 and 60 years
Only the highest annual service badge is worn.
Aid for humanitarian aid abroad

on a stylized, gold-enamelled globe . The globe is on a blue background which is bordered in the middle by a wide and on both sides by a narrow white bar.
The symbol is only awarded for the first use. Further missions are honored with a mission certificate. Before the introduction of the symbol for humanitarian aid abroad, cuffs were issued for special missions abroad.

The plaque with a diameter of 70 millimeters is round and gold-plated. In the middle of the plaque there is a blue filled gear wheel with the gold initials THW
