Hans-Joachim Fuchtel (born February 13, 1952 in Sulz am Neckar ) is a German politician ( CDU ). He has been a member of the German Bundestag since 1987 and Parliamentary State Secretary since 2009 . In the Merkel IV cabinet , he has been Parliamentary State Secretary to the Federal Minister of Food and Agriculture since 2018 . From autumn 2011 to May 2018, Fuchtel was the Federal Chancellor's Commissioner for Greece .

Life and work

After graduating from high school in Nagold , Fuchtel studied law and economics at the Eberhard-Karls-Universität Tübingen , which he completed with the first state examination in law. After completing his legal clerkship , he also passed the second state examination in 1980 and then entered the higher service of the state of Baden-Württemberg . In 1986 he was delegated to the CDU parliamentary group as a councilor. He has been admitted to the bar since 1992 . Fuchtel was a member of the Board of Directors of Sparkasse Pforzheim Calw . He gave up this mandate - like other offices - after he took office as Parliamentary State Secretary in autumn 2009 .

Hans-Joachim Fuchtel is divorced and has four children. He is of the Evangelical Lutheran denomination.

Political work

Hans-Joachim Fuchtel joined the Junge Union (JU) in 1968 and was chairman of the JU district association in Calw from 1969 to 1974 . From 1974 to 1979 he was a member of the JU-Deutschlandrat and from 1979 to 1982 the state board of the JU Baden-Württemberg. Fuchtel was also deputy chairman of the CDU district association in Calw from 1973 to 1987.

Hans-Joachim Fuchtel was a member of the Altensteig city ​​council from 1975 to 1987 and was a member of the district council of the Calw district from 1979 to October 2009 .

Since 1987 he has been a member of the German Bundestag . Since 2002 he has been the deputy chairman of the audit committee of the budget committee and since January 2006 a member of the board of the CDU / CSU parliamentary group . Fuchtel acted as chairman of the secretary of parliament until October 2009 . When Federal President Horst Köhler was re-elected on May 22, 2009, he was chairman of the counting secretaries.

Fuchtel always moved into the Bundestag as a directly elected member of the Calw constituency , in which Saskia Esken had stood against him for the SPD since 2009 and came second. In the 2013 Bundestag election it received 58.5% of the first votes, in 2017 it was 43.3% in the previous Bundestag election.

Parliamentary State Secretary

Hans-Joachim Fuchtel became one of the two Parliamentary State Secretaries at the Federal Minister for Labor and Social Affairs , Ursula von der Leyen , in the black and yellow federal government formed in October 2009 under Angela Merkel (CDU) . After the formation of the federal government of the grand coalition in December 2013, Fuchtel moved to the Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development as Parliamentary State Secretary . Greece Commissioner

In November 2011, Hans-Joachim Fuchtel was appointed Commissioner for the German-Greek Assembly by Chancellor Angela Merkel . The German-Greek Assembly aims to promote German-Greek cooperation at the local level. In May 2018 he was followed by MP Norbert Barthle in this office.

Social Commitment

From 1998 to March 2010, Hans-Joachim Fuchtel was President of the THW -Bundesvereinigung e. V. and belongs to the board of directors of the Helfende Dinge e. V. at. In 2009 he was involved in the campaign “For freedom and self-determination - against totalitarian efforts by lesbian and gay associations” on the occasion of the 6th International Congress for Psychiatry and Pastoral Care in Marburg. In 1997, Fuchtel voted in a roll-call vote against the amendment to the penal code, which made marital rape a criminal offense.
