Norbert Barthle (born February 1, 1952 in Schwäbisch Gmünd ) is a German politician ( CDU ) and Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development .

Life

After graduating from high school in 1972, Barthle did his military service and then began a teaching degree in German , sports science and philosophy in Tübingen , which he completed in 1979 with the first and in 1981 with the second state examination for teaching at grammar schools. Afterwards, Barthle worked as a teacher at the Parler-Gymnasium in Schwäbisch Gmünd until he switched to the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport of the State of Baden-Württemberg in 1990 as a public relations officer . Since 1992 he has been the press spokesman and head of the public relations department.

Norbert Barthle is Catholic , married and the father of two children.

Political party

Barthle joined the CDU in 1990. From 2001 to 2015 he was chairman of the CDU district association Ostalb .

MP

He has been a member of the German Bundestag since 1998 . Norbert Barthle has always entered the Bundestag as a directly elected member of the constituency of Backnang - Schwäbisch Gmünd .

In the 2009 Bundestag election , he received 44.7% of the first votes. In the 17th German Bundestag he was a full member of the budget committee and the sub-committee for European Union affairs .

In the 2013 federal election , he received 55.4% of the first votes. In the 18th German Bundestag he was a full member of the budget committee , the trust committee according to § 10a II BHO, the special committee according to § 3 paragraph 3 of the Stabilization Mechanism Act and the federal funding committee .

From February 2015 to March 2018 he was Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Minister for Transport and Digital Infrastructure. On March 14th, Barthle was appointed Parliamentary State Secretary to the Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development.

Since 2002 he has been a member of the executive committee of the CDU / CSU parliamentary group. From 2009 to 2015 Norbert Barthle was chairman of the budget working group of the CDU / CSU parliamentary group and thus spokesman for budget policy. In addition, he is deputy regional group chairman in the CDU regional group Baden-Württemberg in the German Bundestag. Barthle has been Parliamentary State Secretary for Economic Cooperation and Development since March 2018.

Since May 2018, he has also succeeded Hans-Joachim Fuchtel as Chancellor Angela Merkel's Greece Commissioner .

In June 2020, he announced that he would not run again in the upcoming election to the German Bundestag .

Norbert Barthle is involved in skiing. He has been elected to the management of the German Ski Association (DSV) since 1989. He has also been President of the German Association for Ski Instruction and co-author of the ski curriculum since 2003. Since April 2005 he has also headed the International Association of Snow Sports Instructors (IVSI).

Barthle has been a member of the Board of Directors of Kreissparkasse Ostalb since July 21, 2009 and a member of the Board of Directors of the Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau since 2009 . Barthle is also a member of the Europa-Union Deutschland , which advocates a federal Europe and the European unification process.
