Sören Bartol (born September 4, 1974 in Hamburg ) is a German politician of the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD).

Life and work

After graduating from high school in 1993 at the Leopoldinum Gymnasium in Detmold , Bartol completed a degree in political science with minor subjects in law and media science at the Philipps University of Marburg , which he completed in 2001 with a diploma in political science. From 2000 to 2002 Bartol worked for Ernst-Ludwig Wagner, member of the Hessian state parliament .

Political party

Bartol became a member of the SPD as a schoolboy in 1990. He was initially involved with the Jusos and was their deputy sub-district chairman in Lippe from 1992 to 1993 and chairman of the Jusos in the Marburg-Biedenkopf sub -district from 1995 to 2002 .

Since 2010 he has been chairman of the SPD sub-district Marburg-Biedenkopf.

MP

Bartol has been a member of the district council of the Marburg-Biedenkopf district since April 2001 .

Sören Bartol has been a directly elected member of the German Bundestag since 2002 . In the federal election in 2002 , he received 47.8% of the first votes in the federal constituency of Marburg . He defended his direct mandate in the following federal elections: 2005 with 47.5%, 2009 with 38.9%, 2013 with 43.7% and 2017 with 35.7% of the first votes.

In the German Bundestag , Bartol was the spokesman for the Hessen State Group from February 2005 to September 2009 . From December 2005 to October 2011 he was first deputy spokesman, then until January 2014 the spokesman for the “Transport, Building and Urban Development” working group of the SPD parliamentary group. Since then he has been a deputy member of the “Digital Agenda” working group. In addition, Bartol is a full member of the mediation committee and the joint committee of the Bundestag. He is also a deputy member of the Committee for Construction, Housing, Urban Development and Municipalities , the Committee for Economics and Energy and the Committee for Transport and Digital Infrastructure .

Sören Bartol has been a member of the executive committee of the SPD parliamentary group since January 2008 . Since December 2013 Bartol has been deputy chairman of the SPD parliamentary group for the areas of transport, construction and digital infrastructure as well as the digital agenda.

Bartol is a member of the Berlin Network , which is counted among the reformers within the SPD.
