Andreas von Block-Schlesier

Andreas von Block-Schlesier (* 1945 ) is a German lawyer and political scientist .

Life

After attending school in Goslar and Bonn, von Block-Schlesier did military service as a reserve officer candidate in the Bundeswehr from 1966 to 1968 . From 1968 to 1972 he studied law . He passed the state law exams in 1972 and 1976. From 1972 to 1975 he completed a teaching degree, which he completed in 1975 with the state examination for German, history and politics. He later studied part-Political and Social Sciences and in 1999 at Armin A. Stone crest at the Bundeswehr University in Munich with a thesis on the question of acceptance of international humanitarian law at the end of the 20th century to Dr. rer. pole. PhD. In 1976 he was admitted to the bar in the Cologne Higher Regional Court.

From 1976 to 1987 he worked for the German Red Cross as head of international operations, as legal advisor , as head of the presidential office and as federal commissioner for the Geneva Conventions . From 1987 to 1994 he was federal manager of Johanniter-Unfall-Hilfe in Bonn. After that he was a member of the federal executive committee. From 2000 to 2004 he was Plenipotentiary of the Order of St. John at the European Union and Secretary General of Johanniter International in Brussels. After working as a lawyer a. a. In 2005 he was Senior Legal Adviser at the Special Court for Sierra Leone in Freetown . In 2005/06 he was an honorary professor at the University of Sierra Leone . In 2007/08 he was Managing Director of the Nelson Mandela Children's Fund Germany.

For many years he was engaged in part-time and voluntary work a. a. as a member of the Diaconal Conference of the Diaconal Work of the Evangelical Church in Germany , as a member of the convention of a cooperative of the Order of St. John, as an advisory board member of the Bank for Social Economy , as a founding member of the Committee on Humanitarian International Law of the Presidium of the German Red Cross. He was also a lecturer at the Ruhr University in Bochum . He was also involved in various international projects in development cooperation. Since 2006 he has been a Senior Expert in the Senior Expert Service. Von Block-Schlesier is an active reserve officer . a. Used in the Federal Ministry of Defense , most recently as a lieutenant colonel in the reserve.
