Hans Henning Blomeyer-Bartenstein (born July 28, 1950 in Munich ) is a German diplomat and was ambassador to Chile until 2015 . He was ambassador to Vienna until 2012 .

Life

Blomeyer-Bartenstein is the son of the German diplomat Horst Blomeyer-Bartenstein . After graduating from high school, he studied political science and law at the Sorbonne University in Paris from 1969 to 1975 and then joined the Foreign Service of the Federal Republic of Germany. The first foreign station from 1977 was the embassy in Cairo , where he first worked in the press department and then as a political advisor. In 1980 he moved to the Foreign Office (AA) in Bonn , where he worked in the department for foreign policy issues that affect Germany as a whole and Berlin. In 1982 he became the personal assistant to the ministers of state in the Foreign Office, Alois Mertes and Lutz Stavenhagen . From 1985 Blomeyer-Bartenstein was Counselor in the Political Department of the Washington Embassy, ​​before he was appointed Deputy Head of Parliament and Cabinet Division in the Executive Committee in 1988.

In 1992 he was employed as a first class counselor at the Tel Aviv embassy , where he held the post of permanent representative of the ambassador. In August 2001 Blomeyer-Bartenstein became deputy head of the Foreign and Security Policy Department of the Foreign Office. From July 2009 to September 2012 Hans Henning Blomeyer-Bartenstein was Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Austria . From October 2012 until his retirement in the summer of 2015 he was the German ambassador in Santiago de Chile .
