Hans Hoffmann (called Johann ) (born September 14, 1880 in Worms , † September 17, 1949 in Ebersteinburg ) was a Hessian politician ( center ) and a former member of the state parliament of the People's State of Hesse .

Johann Hoffmann was born the son of the businessman Georg Hoffmann and his wife Katharina, née Kappel. He attended the teacher training college in Bensheim and studied in Giessen . After graduating, he became a teacher at the Viernheim elementary school and the upper secondary school in Giessen. From 1932 to 1933 he was Deputy Ministerial Director. After the " seizure of power " by the National Socialists, he was put into retirement. As part of the Gewitter campaign , he was arrested in 1944 and taken to the Dachau concentration camp . After the end of the war, he became Ministerialrat at the Darmstadt District President in 1945 and in November 1945 in the Hessian Ministry of Culture .

Johann Hoffmann was an active member of the Catholic Church and the center. For the center he was elected in 1918 as Alzey city ​​councilor . From 1921 to 1933 he was a member of the state parliament of the center and most recently led the center parliamentary group as chairman.

Honors

In 1949 Johann Hoffmann received the Goethe plaque from the State of Hesse .
