Hans Jörg Sandkühler

Hans Jörg Sandkühler (born August 27, 1940 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) is a German philosopher and professor emeritus.

Life

From 1960 to 1965, Sandkühler studied philosophy and law at the University of Innsbruck , the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster and at the Sorbonne . In 1967 he received his doctorate in Münster with Joachim Ritter with a dissertation on Friedrich Wilhelm Schelling . From 1965 to 1970 he worked as an assistant to Odo Marquard at the Justus Liebig University in Giessen . After his habilitation in 1970 on questions of epistemology and hermeneutics , Sandkühler became professor at the Center for Philosophy and Fundamentals of Science at the University of Giessen in 1971.

Since 1974 he has been a professor at the University of Bremen .

From 1983 to 1989 he was on the Scientific Advisory Board of the Institute for Marxist Studies and Research . In 2003, Sandkühler took over the management of the German Department of Human Rights and Cultures of the European UNESCO Chair for Philosophy / Paris at the University of Bremen, which he also holds after his retirement in 2005.
