Hans Joachim Eichler
Hans Joachim Eichler (* 9. November 1940 in Berlin ) is a German laser - physicist .
Eichler studied at the TH Berlin , where he received his doctorate in 1967 ( nonlinear optical effects in lasers ) and completed his habilitation in 1969. In 1969 he took over the working group on laser physics from Horst Weber and Gerd Herziger when they went to Bern.
Eichler has been a full professor of experimental physics (for lasers and quantum electronics) at the TU Berlin since 1972 , where he was the founding spokesman for the physics department in the 1970s and expanded and modernized the basic physics internship. From 2003 to 2007 he was the managing director of the Optical Institute and heads a group for the development and measurement application of lasers. From 1980 to 1983 he did research at the Bell Laboratories in Holmdel .
From 2003 to 2013 he was Scientific Director of Laser-Medizin-Technologie-Berlin GmbH .
He has written several books on lasers , partly with his brother Jürgen Eichler (* 1942, professor at the Technical University of Applied Sciences Berlin).
From 1982 he was chairman of the quantum optics working group of the German Physical Society .
