Hans Jordan (banker)
Hans Jordan (born February 3, 1848 in Elbing ; † October 10, 1923 in Elberfeld (now part of Wuppertal )) was a German lawyer , banker , entrepreneur and patron .
After graduating from high school, Hans Jordan studied law . In 1874 he went to the Prussian State Bank in Berlin and later worked as an assessor at the Dresden Reichsbank branch . From 1879 Jordan was the second director of the Reichsbank branch in Elberfeld. From 1885 he was director of Bergisch-Märkische Bank AG in Elberfeld. In 1893 he was one of the founders of the Westdeutsche Bodenkreditanstalt in Cologne . Jordan later became a board member of Vereinigte Glanzstoff-Fabriken AG and a member of the supervisory board of Deutsche Bank AG .
From 1896 he lived with his wife Cläre (1858–1933) at the Mallinckrodt house in Herdecke . His son Hans Jordan jr. died in 1903 at the age of only 25. Jordan received the honorary title of Commercial Councilor for his services .
