Hans König (sculptor)
Hans König (born December 23, 1913 in Bad Warmbrunn , Province of Silesia , † June 6, 2005 in Klingenberg am Main ) was a German sculptor .
König studied at the Werkkunstschule Berlin and the Kunstakademie Dresden. After the war and being a prisoner of war, he came to Trennfurt in 1945 , today a district of Klingenberg. There he was able to set up a studio with a kiln in the Albertwerke ceramics factory (today Klingenberg Dekoramik ). He worked with clay and created numerous mosaic works. In 1950 the Main-Echo called him the "only independent mosaic artist in West Germany". From 1952 to 1964 he was a lecturer at the master school for stone sculptors in Aschaffenburg . The initially representational mosaic works were later increasingly followed by abstract sculptures made of glass and metal.
