Hans Kern (politician, 1898)

Hans Kern (born May 26, 1898 in Rothenburg ob der Tauber ; † April 9, 1984 ) was a German football official , manager and politician . He supported SSV Reutlingen 05 as first chairman, game manager of the soccer department and patron. Kern was director of the Reutlingen knitting machine factory H. Stoll & Co and from 1945 to 1975 president of the Reutlingen Chamber of Commerce and Industry. From 1946 to 1953 Kern was the first deputy of the Lord Mayor and from 1947 to 1963 District Administrator of the Reutlingen district .

In 1953, Hans Kern took over the management of the soccer department of SSV Reutlingen 05 , the first team of which played in the 2nd division at the time. After Kern had strengthened the Reutlingen team by signing several players, his SSV succeeded in promotion to the Oberliga Süd in the 1953/54 season and the runner-up in this league in the following season . On the descent in the league season 1955/56 followed in the II. Division 1956/57 the direct promotion. With the help of further player commitments made possible by his financial support, the SSV Reutlingen stayed in the Oberliga Süd until the Bundesliga was founded in 1963.
