Hans Mertsch

Hans Mertsch (born April 15, 1927 in Berlin ; † February 8, 2011 there ) was a Berlin SPD politician.

education and profession

Hans Mertsch attended high school , then he did a commercial apprenticeship. In World War II he had in 1944 his military service serve, after the captivity he joined in 1946 an Administrative Studies in district office Wedding on. He studied part-time at the German University of Politics . Mertsch was most recently deputy head of department at the Rudolf Virchow Hospital .

Mertsch was first a member of the FDGB and a founding member of the UGO , but then a member of the trade union ÖTV and the Arbeiterwohlfahrt .

Hans Mertsch was married and had two children.

politics

After the war, Hans Mertsch quickly became the district chairman of the Weddinger Falken . He then joined the SPD in 1946. He worked in many functions in the SPD. In April 1971 he became a member of the Berlin House of Representatives , also as a direct candidate in Weddingen . He was mainly concerned with health policy and was chairman of the committee for health and environmental protection. In 1985 he left parliament.

Mertsch worked as a judge at the labor court in Berlin for eight years .
