Hans Oberbacher

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Johann "Hans" Oberbacher (born February 18, 1914 in Bolzano ; † April 29, 2012 ) was an Austrian commercial artist and manufacturer of relief panoramas . In addition to many works for individual holiday regions, his large alpine panorama and the alpine atlas are particularly well known.

Life

Hans Oberbacher grew up in Innsbruck and attended the local arts and crafts school . He later moved to Vorarlberg , where, in addition to relief cartography, he also worked in advertising graphics. Among other things, he designed subjects for the cheese industry that were in use for decades. He later moved to Giaveno near Turin , where he took over the professorship at the local academy for some time . He last lived in Bavaria.

His life's work is the relief-like representation of the alpine tourism world of Italy, Austria, Switzerland and Germany. His works have three-dimensional quality and good measurement transfer, because the drawing of complex landscapes and the most vivid panoramas possible is naturally subject to great distortions . As a result of the high quality, many of his products have become collectibles.

Oberbacher's greatest works are the alpine panorama from Marseille to Vienna , the elaboration of which took six years in addition to frequent skimming and which is six meters wide in the original and is still available today as an art print, and the " Alpenatlas ". Smaller works, such as Mittenwald with Karwendelbahn , are now being presented on the Internet by a Czech company. A relief map of Great Britain also comes from his hands. He also created portrait sculptures of celebrities and other valuable sculptures.

His works of art in watercolors and other kinds are privately owned, occasionally exhibitions are organized.
