Hans Paul Schmohl (born March 15, 1904 in Stuttgart ; † March 11, 1973 there ) was a German architect , designer and artist .

Live and act

Hans Paul Schmohl was born as the son of Paul Schmohl , he was a nephew of the Berlin architect Eugen Schmohl . In 1923 he passed the Abitur at the Dillmann Gymnasium in Stuttgart . He then studied at the Technical University of Stuttgart with Paul Bonatz and Paul Schmitthenner and at the Technical University of Berlin architecture. Since 1929 he had his own architecture office in Stuttgart and designed single-family houses and villas, for which he often also designed the furniture. His first prominent order was the movie theater Universum on Königstrasse in Stuttgart.

In the years 1948 to 1949, the Hindenburgbau in Stuttgart was rebuilt in a different form according to plans by Hans Paul Schmohl and other architects , with the building being expanded by two additional set-back floors. Between 1953 and 1956, the Stuttgart town hall was built in modern forms according to plans by Hans Paul Schmohl and Paul Stohrer . In 1954, the Karl Kost furniture store in Heilbronn was built according to plans by Schmohl. Schmohl also planned the Sommerberg Hotel in Bad Wildbad , the Schlossgarten Hotel in Stuttgart, part of the Westerland spa center, and commercial and industrial buildings.

Schmohl was for many years president of the Franco-German artist group ligne et couleur painting architects .
