Hans Pelzer (born January 20, 1936 in Velbert , † April 20, 2006 in Hanover ) was a German geodesist and university professor .

Life

Pelzer first completed an apprenticeship as a surveying technician before he began studying at the State Engineering School in Essen. He then studied geodesy in Bonn and graduated in 1962. At the Institute for Surveying at the Technical University of Braunschweig he was awarded a doctorate by Karl Gerke in 1969 with a study of the accuracy of electromagnetically measured route networks. Ing. PhD. At the same institute, Pelzer completed his habilitation two years later with a stochastically based analysis of geodetic monitoring measurements . In 1971, in the year of his habilitation , he was offered a position at the TU Hannover , where he initially held a professorship for geodetic measurement technology. In 1977 he became the professor for general surveying and at the same time director of the Geodetic Institute. For two years he also served as dean of the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Geodesy.

The main research focus of Pelzer was on the geodetic networks of state and engineering surveying. In addition, he worked on equalization calculations and statistics. In addition, he carried out numerous interdisciplinary projects and intensified cooperation with foreign universities.

Hans Pelzer was married and had three children.
