Hans Quaet-Faslem

Hans Quaet-Faslem (born December 3, 1874 in Hanover , † December 11, 1941 in Breslau ) was a German admiral .

His father was the forester Georg Quaet-Faslem .

Career

Faslem joined the Imperial Navy on April 4, 1893 as a midshipman . On September 14, 1896, he was promoted to lieutenant at sea . On April 10, 1899 he was promoted to lieutenant at sea . On May 17, 1904, he was promoted to lieutenant captain. From January 3, 1908 to September 10, 1910, he was used successively as the commander of torpedo boat half flotillas 3, 9 and 5. From September 16, 1910 to March 31, 1912, he was first officer on the liner SMS Deutschland . On November 19, 1910 he was promoted to corvette captain. From October 1, 1912 to September 29, 1917 he was Admiral Staff Officer in command of the high seas fleet. On April 24, 1916, he was promoted to frigate captain . From September 30, 1917 to October 31, 1917 he was in command of the small cruiser SMS Strasbourg . Under Quaet-Faslem's command, Strasbourg was involved in the occupation of the Baltic Islands ( Operation Albion and Battle of Moon Sound ). From November 11, 1917 to December 20, 1917 he was deployed as commander of the mine cruiser SMS Brummer . From January 1, 1918 to July 19, 1918 he was in command of the small cruiser SMS Nuremberg . From July 23, 1918 to November 30, 1918 he was the second leader of the torpedo boat forces. From November 1, 1918 to July 31, 1919 he was commander of the torpedo boat forces. From March 1, 1919 to March 17, 1920 he was Chief of Staff Naval Station of the North Sea . On November 29, 1919, he was promoted to captain at sea . From January 5, 1921 to September 30, 1921 he was chief of the nautical department in the naval command .

On December 8, 1921, he was given the character of rear admiral when he left .
