Hans Richter (diplomat)

Hans Richter (born December 29, 1930 in Weißig near Freital ; † March 2, 1978 ) was a German diplomat . He was the GDR's ambassador to Australia , New Zealand and Fiji .

Life

Richter, a miner by profession , studied at the German Academy for Political Science and Law in Potsdam and passed the state examination in 1955.

From 1955 he was an employee of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of the GDR (MfAA). From 1956 to 1965 he worked as an employee and sector manager in the 5th European department (Western Europe). From 1965 to 1971 he was Deputy Head of the Representation of the Chamber of Foreign Trade in Athens . From 1971 to 1973 Richter was head of the parliamentary and communal foreign relations department at the MfAA. From April 1973 to 1977 he was ambassador of the GDR in Canberra and also took over the post of ambassador in Fiji from March 1974 and from May 1974 in New Zealand. 1977/1978 he acted again as a sector manager in the Western Europe department.

Richter was a member of the SED .
