Hans Rudolf Hartung

Hans Rudolf Hartung (born April 10, 1929 in Münster ; † February 4, 2012 in Soest ) was a German journalist and writer .

Life

After an internship at the Westfalenpost, Hartung studied law in Bonn and has worked for newspapers and magazines as well as television ( WDR ) since 1949 . In 1956 he went to the Rhineland Regional Council as a press officer , the administrative association for supra-regional tasks for the cities and districts of the Rhineland. From 1972 he was regional councilor for culture and from 1980 to 1985 he was the first regional councilor. During his tenure, important monument preservation projects were initiated in the Rhineland.

Hartung was a member of the FDP since 1972.

In addition to his journalistic work, a notable oeuvre of non-fiction books emerged over the years, in which Hartung dealt with his homeland Soest. His autobiographical works also show a love of home. He re-founded the cultural magazine “Neues Rheinland” after the Second World War.
