Hans Stocker (politician)

Hans Stocker (born June 6, 1929 , † December 31, 2008 in Staufen im Breisgau ) was a German high school teacher and politician ( SPD ).

Life

Stocker grew up on Lake Constance . He attended the humanistic grammar school in Konstanz and studied Romance studies, history, politics and the Catholic religion in Freiburg , Munich and Innsbruck . He later attended the study seminar in Freiburg to prepare for higher education. Then he began to work as a teacher at the then newly founded Progymnasium, today's Faust-Gymnasium in Staufen, whose expansion into a full high school was decisively influenced by him.

Stocker belonged to the SPD for over four decades. He was a member of the municipal council, the district council of the Freiburg district and from 1972 to 1976 the Baden-Württemberg state parliament through a second mandate in the Freiburg-Land constituency . He campaigned for the further development of rural areas, but also for education. After leaving the state parliament, he withdrew from politics and devoted himself again to the school system, so he became director of studies and department head for French at Staufen's Faust-Gymnasium, and he also participated in the establishment of the Esther Weber School in Emmendingen - Water . He also participated in the town twinning between Staufen and Bonneville in France .
