Hans Theilig
Hans Theilig (born August 12, 1914 in Hamburg ; † October 6, 1976 ) was a German handball player .
Theilig, who initially played for the Hamburg Gauligist Oberalster VfW , became Olympic champion in 1936 with the German national handball team . Two years later he became world champion both indoors and on the field . Together with the Swede Ynge Lamberg he was the top scorer at the Handball World Cup in 1938 with 6 goals. He is one of only four handball players ever to become world champions both on the field and in the hall.
In 1941 and 1943, Theilig won the German championship twice with SG ORPO (= SV Police ) Hamburg, scoring all nine of Hamburg's goals in the 1941 final and ten out of twelve in the 1943 final. In 1943/44 Theilig played for the SG ORPO (= Police SV ) Berlin due to the conversion of the Hamburg SG ORPO to the Luftwaffe SV and became German champion a third time with a 10: 7 success in the final against his former Hamburg comrades. In this final he scored four goals for Berlin.
