Hans Urner

Hans Wilhelm Victor Urner (born May 21, 1901 in Breslau ; † November 5, 1986 in Berlin ) was a German practical theologian and university professor .

Life

Hans Urner was born in 1901 as the son of the construction engineer Wilhelm Urner and his wife Helena Franziska nee Schroeter. He studied Protestant theology at the University of Berlin and at the Bethel Theological School . In 1928 he married in Berlin-Friedrichshagen . From 1928 to 1934 he worked as a pastor in Panthenau , Silesia , and from 1934 to 1952 as a hospital chaplain at the Paul-Gerhardt-Stift in Berlin. During the Nazi era , Uri was a member of the Confessing Church and the Pastors' Emergency Association .

1948 Uri was a study on the reading in worship in the subject Practical Theology at Wilhelm Stählin at the University of Münster Doctor of theology doctorate . After a period as a lecturer , he was appointed full professor of practical theology at the Martin Luther University in Halle-Wittenberg from 1953 to 1966 , although his residence was in West Berlin . From 1954 to 1957 Urner was a member of the church leadership of the Evangelical Church in the Church Province of Saxony . In 1958 Urner was one of the founders of the Christian Peace Conference . At their meeting as well as at the II. All-Christian Peace Assembly in Prague in 1964 he was involved as a discussant.

From 1950 to 1986 Uri was a member of the editorial board of the magazine Diezeichen der Zeit and a permanent member of the Evangelical Publishing House . He showed particular interest in modern German literature , to which he devoted numerous essays and in them addressed the relationship between religion and literature. He was also interested in the history of Pietism , which was expressed in numerous publications.
