Hans Wühr

Hans Wühr (born January 25, 1891 in Reghin (Sächsisch-Regen), Transylvania , Austria-Hungary , † April 23, 1982 in Grunwald , district of Munich ) was a German art historian and author .

Life

Before the First World War, Wühr studied philosophy and art history in Berlin , Geneva , Munich , Budapest and Klausenburg . He was a soldier from 1914 to 1919. In 1925 he received his doctorate in Berlin on the subject of Hans Burgkmair the Elder before he then worked at the Brukenthal Museum in Sibiu in Transylvania, Romania. In 1939 he went to Berlin to work at the State Museums. In the Second World War he was again a soldier and was taken prisoner of war. In 1948 he started at the Bavarian National Museum in Munich until he retired in 1954. From that year he worked as a freelance writer.

His son Hans Michael Wühr (1942 to 1981) was a painter.
