Hans Wagner-Schönkirch
Hans Wagner-Schönkirch (born December 19, 1872 in Schönkirchen , Lower Austria , † December 12, 1940 in Vienna ) was an Austrian music teacher and writer , composer and choir director .
Wagner graduated from the teacher training college in Krems and was the director of the Krems choir and orchestra from 1892 to 1896. From 1898 to 1901 he was the choirmaster of the Vienna Men's Choir (founded in 1863), from 1901 to 1906 of the Vienna Academic Choir, from 1906 to 1907 of the Wiener Singverein and from 1901 to 1910 alongside Adolf Kirchl of the Vienna Schubert Association . In 1910 he founded the first Viennese children's singing school.
Wagner-Schönkirch is buried in an honorary grave in the Vienna Central Cemetery (Group 33 A, Row 2, Number 2). In 1973 Wagner-Schönkirch-Gasse in Vienna- Liesing was named after him.
