Hans Wagner (* 17th September 1957 in St. Ingbert ) is a German non-party local politicians and from July 2012 to September 2019 mayor of his hometown of St. Ingbert.

Life

Hans Wagner is a qualified civil engineer and runs a family-run carpenter's workshop in St. Ingbert- Rohrbach , which he took over from his parents. He is also a certified expert in the funeral and carpentry trade. From 1999 to 2004 Wagner was a member of the board of the Saarland carpenter's guild, from 2001 to 2006 he was a member of the master craftsman's examination committee of the Chamber of Crafts.

Wagner is married and has one son. He is the owner of two green house numbers .

politics

Hans Wagner has been a member of the city council since 2004. In the same year he was elected mayor of Rohrbach - while still a member of the CDU . In 2009 he was confirmed in office with an absolute majority after he had switched from the CDU to the family party in February 2009 due to internal disagreements . In September 2015 it became known that Wagner had left the family party.

On November 6, 2011, Wagner was elected mayor of his hometown as a single applicant . He prevailed against the incumbent Georg Jung in a runoff election . He took office on July 5, 2012.

In September 2017, the Saarland Broadcasting Corporation reported that the State Office for Administration would appoint a state commissioner to Wagner for breaches of duty . Wagner had refused to implement two construction and demolition orders issued by the city ​​council and justified this with overburdening the construction department due to the wave of refugees . After the mayor presented concrete measures for the implementation of the installation of an elevator in the town hall, which was decided in May 2014, as well as the demolition of an old table tennis hall, which was decided in March 2015, the municipal supervisory authority announced that the measure, which would have been implemented for the first time in Saarland, will be for the time being.

In 2019 he lost the runoff election for mayor against Ulli Meyer , CDU.
