Hans Wolf (sculptor)
Hans Wolf (also: Hans Wulf and Hans Wulff to * 1570 in Hildesheim ; buried December 29. 1629 in Oberkirchen ) was a German sculptor of the Renaissance .
life and work
Hans Wolf was the son of the sculptor Ebert Wolf the Elder and the brother of Ebert Wolf the Younger and Jonas Wolf .
In 1604 he went with his father and his brothers to Bückeburg to work for Count Ernst III. to join Schaumburg , since September 29, 1609 he was permanently employed there. Since 1620 he has been recorded in Obernkirchen, where he became consul mayor.
His well-known works include:
- 1604–1606: a portal created by Hans and Ebert Wolf the Elder and Hans Wolf for the Bückeburg Palace , translocated for the grotto in the garden of Baum Palace
- 1613 hired out payment for two sculptures and an eagle for the soldier's gate in Bückeburg, which was broken off today; Remnants of it are probably preserved in the figures of Mars and Venus now erected in front of Baum Castle.
- around 1611/1615, together with Jonas Wolf: Reliefs of the pulpit in the town church of Bückeburg
- Wooden relief with the raising of Lazarus on the west wall of the town church of Bückeburg
- 1620 reliefs of the pulpit of the collegiate church Möllenbeck
- before 1627 (completion) inscription panels with borders for the mausoleum of Count Ernst in Stadthagen
- 1622 (order); 1623–26 (execution), monumental fountain for the palace gardens in Celle on behalf of Duke Christian von Braunschweig-Lüneburg
