The Hansa Type P is a mid -range vehicle from the Hansa-Automobilwerke in Varel .
history
In 1921 Hansa presented the type P 8/26 PS . It was based on pre-war designs by Hansa-Lloyd-Werke AG, and was not considered innovative, but reliable.
In 1924 a slightly larger and more powerfully motorized car, the type P 8/36 PS , came out under the same name . It was produced until 1928.
Engine, transmission and chassis
The type P 8/26 PS had a four-cylinder in-line engine of its own design with an output of 30 PS (22 kW) at 2700 rpm. With a bore of 77.8 mm and a stroke of 110 mm, the displacement was 2090 cm³. The valves on the side were actuated directly by a camshaft located below ( SV valve control ), which in turn was driven by spur gears .
The larger type P 8/36 PS had an unchanged displacement, but developed 36 PS (26.5 kW) at 3000 rpm. This engine also had side-mounted valves.
The top speed of the Type P 8/26 PS was 75–80 km / h, depending on the construction, while the successor Type P 8/36 PS reached 85–90 km / h.
All models had unsynchronized four-speed gearboxes with a central shift lever (stick shift). The rear wheels were driven.
Both axles of the P-types were rigid axles, which hung on semi-elliptical longitudinal leaf springs, the rear axles additionally on transverse leaf springs. The type P 8/26 PS had a service brake which, like the handbrake, worked mechanically on the cardan shaft. In the successor type P 8/36 PS the service brake acted mechanically on all 4 wheels.
Bodies
Both P-types were available as a four-seat touring car , four-door sedan and two-door convertible ; the doors of the four-door were hinged on the A and C-pillars (i.e. the front doors at the front and the rear doors at the back), those of the convertible were hinged at the front. All the bodies had a vertical radiator grille between the individual headlights. The spare wheels were attached on both sides behind the front fenders.
