Hanspeter Faas (born April 28, 1954 in Lörrach ) is a trained gardener and graduate engineer for horticulture. His field of activity are garden shows on a regional and national level.

Career

After training as a gardener , Hanspeter Faas studied from 1975 to 1978 at the Technical University of Applied Sciences in Berlin (Department of Horticulture and Land Care) with a degree in engineering. Then Faas worked in the garden department of the Berlin-Zehlendorf district office. In 1980 he started as a speaker at the newly founded "Society for the Promotion of Bavarian State Horticultural Shows" (FÖG) in Munich .

In the following years Faas worked for the IGA 1983 in Munich as well as for the garden shows in Würzburg 1990, Ingolstadt 1992, Hof 1994, Amberg 1996 and Memmingen 2000 . From 1984 to 2005 Faas acted as managing director of the "Society for the Promotion of Bavarian State Horticultural Shows". From 1998 to 2005 Faas was one of the two managing directors of the Bundesgartenschau Munich 2005 .

Since 2006 he has been the managing director of the Bundesgartenschau Koblenz 2011 GmbH , responsible for the implementation of the Bundesgartenschau 2011 . Since July 2012 he has been managing director of the Bundesgartenschau Heilbronn 2019 GmbH . The sponsoring company develops and organizes the Federal Garden Show 2019 under the chairmanship of the Mayor of Heilbronn, Harry Mergel, with a total volume of around 500 million euros.

Hanspeter Faas is married to the landscape architect Claudia Knoll , who was the managing director of the State Horticultural Show in Würzburg in 2018 . The couple lives in Memmingen and has two daughters.
