Hanumant Singh (born March 29, 1939 in Banswara , Rajasthan , India , † November 29, 2006 in the Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai , Maharashtra , India) was an Indian cricketer .

Life

Hanumant Singh began his career as a cricketer in 1956. Soon afterwards, the right-handed player was also playing Holkar's first first-class games . He completed his first test for the Indian national team from February 8 to February 13, 1964 in Delhi against England . He was only the fifth Indian player to score a century on his debut. Despite good performance, he did not succeed in establishing himself and often remained in dispute with the Indian Association. When he was eliminated twice early in the test match against New Zealand from September 25 to September 30, 1969 , he was removed from the squad. He was not nominated for further tours of the Indian team, ostensibly due to a lack of fitness. He played national first-class cricket for several Indian selection teams until 1979. He did not succeed in winning the Ranji Trophy because it was dominated by Bombay , but he and his team managed to achieve second place eight times.

He then became a coach and referee . His last game as a referee was in 2001, and as a coach he stayed with the Rajasthan team he wanted to lead to the Ranji Trophy until he was hospitalized in early November 2006. He died on Wednesday November 29, 2006 of complications from hepatitis B at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai. He left behind his wife, son Sangram and daughter Tinika.

successes

1963-64 he was India's cricketer of the year. Although he had only relatively minor successes with 686 runs in 14 test games, he achieved the high number of 12338 runs in 207 first-class cricket games. He also became director of coach education at the World Cricket Academy (WCA).
