Harald Polenz

Harald Polenz (born March 5, 1949 in Volkringhausen , North Rhine-Westphalia ) is a German journalist and author .

Life

Polenz began training as a typesetter in 1964 in a young adult book publisher with a commercial printer , which he successfully completed three years later. He then worked for two years as a typesetter and another two years as a proofreader . He also worked for two decades as a journalist for daily newspapers, most recently in the role of editor-in-chief. During this time he wrote biographies about theater makers and circus artists, as well as popular science books in the fields of archeology and paleontology , travel guides about cities and landscapes as diverse as the Emsland and Rome . For the WDR television he shot articles in the features section . For six years he was head of communications at the Initiativkreis Ruhrgebiet in Essen.

In his editorial office "wortbüro" he was responsible for the editorial offices of several customer magazines for 10 years.

Since the early 2000s, he has been teaching at the Folkwang University of the Arts and is teaching hand typesetting to the students .

Polenz published a whole series of books on the home. After living and working for a long time in his home town of Balve , he published in 1980 on the history of the former office and the town of Balve . In addition, Polenz spent some years of his youth in the nearby Oelinghausen monastery . Together with Wilfried Michel, he wrote the book Kloster Oelinghausen and the historical organs 1174–1804 .
