Harrietstown is a town in Franklin County, New York in the United States . At the time of the 2010 United States Census , Harrietstown had 5,709 residents, most of them in Saranac Lake .

The Town of Harrietstown is in the southeast corner of the county and is south of the Town of Brighton .

history

The area around Saranac Lake was first settled around 1819. Harrietstown was created in 1841 by relocating from the Town of Duane . Towards the end of the 19th century, thanks to the mountain air, the village became the site of a sanatorium for lung patients.
