Harrison Ellenshaw

Harrison Ellenshaw , born as Peter Samuel Ellenshaw (born July 20, 1945 in Harrisburg , Pennsylvania ) is an American matte painter and special effects artist . In 1980 he was nominated for an Oscar for Best Visual Effects for The Black Hole .

Life

At the beginning of his professional career he worked at Walt Disney Studio . He later moved to George Lucas special effects studio Industrial Light & Magic , where he produced many effect backgrounds for the films Star Wars and The Empire Strikes Back .

Together with his father Peter Ellenshaw , he was nominated for the 1980 Oscar for Best Visual Effects for The Black Hole .

His son Michael Ellenshaw produced the short film Answer in 2002 and his daughter Lynda Thompson is also a special effects artist.
