The big vacation adventure (original title: Vacanze col gangster ) is an Italian black and white film from 1951. The 12-year-old Mario Girotti made his debut in this film. Girotti later became known as Terence Hill .

The five students Gianni, Andrea, Mario, Hugh and Nino find a message while playing. This comes from an inmate with the number 5823, who claims to have been convicted of innocence.

During the summer holidays, the boys forge a plan to free the prisoner. To do this, they anonymously send a prepared cake to the prison. By mistake, the cake got to prisoner Jack Mariotti (number 6211), a dangerous criminal. He planned to escape from prison with an accomplice.

The beautiful singer Amelia is also in league with the criminals. She can convince Gianni that she is the sister of inmate 5823. Furthermore, Amelia can convince him to free the criminal Jack Mariotti as well. The boys hide Jack Mariotti in a boat. They have to realize too late that they have been tricked. At the last moment the police come to the rescue.

In the end, the innocent convicted inmate 5823 is released.
