Life
Nascimbene studied at the Conservatory "Giuseppe Verdi" Milan a . a. with Ildebrando Pizzetti , where he graduated in composition and orchestral conducting. He initially worked on symphonic and chamber music pieces, wrote ballets and lyrical works. In 1941 he received an offer to work for Fernando Maria Poggioli's film L'amore cantadraft the score; Due to his originality and innovative ideas, he became one of the leading film music composers in his home country within a few years. Until then, he used unusual instruments such as harp and harmonica for film work and was the first to use clock ticking, bicycle bells and typewriter noises; a technique called "Mixerama". For It happened point 11 from Giuseppe De Santis he received a silver ribbon in 1952 . He won further copies of the award in 1959 for Wilder Sommer from Valerio Zurlini and in 1967 for Massimo Franciosa's Pronto… c'è una certa Giuliana per te .
Hollywood, too, became aware of Nascimbenes' abilities and gave him the music for Die Barefooted Countess in 1954 as well as several period films (e.g. The Vikings (1958), Barabbas (1961)) and psychodramas from the 1950s to the early 1970s. With Roberto Rossellini he worked again frequently in his later phase on television work. With the 1970s the intensity of his work decreased; new styles were in demand. After one last film, Blue Dolphin , a 1991 David di Donatello crowned Nascimbenes' life's work.
