The Messiah is a film by Roberto Rossellini that was shown to the public for the first time in October 1975 at the Montecatini Film Festival .
action
The life of Jesus of Nazareth is told . The film begins with the birth in Bethlehem and covers the subject up to the crucifixion and resurrection .
backgrounds
In the 1975 film, director Roberto Rossellini deliberately dispensed with camera effects and tried to capture naturalness and the often improvised reactions of the actors and extras with long recordings, often up to a minute. The script , which reproduces the biblical story in great detail, could have gained a bit of speed in some places, but is considered successful. The equipment and the sets , created in Tunisia , are lively and not too overloaded. Violence is renounced in The Messiah . The crucifixion scene, for example, only begins when Jesus is already hanging on the cross.
